One-on-One Coaching is the most desirable writing instruction available. It is also the most time consuming. It requires trust and a mutual understanding of the project. In individualized coaching, both the writer and coach's goals should align. To achieve this and create the best product possible, the writing coach needs to know the author's skills, expectations, and goals for the project.

Prospective attendees will fill out a short intake form when they sign up and provide their manuscript or rough draft (or another 5,000 word writing sample for the Start from Scratch coaching package). Over the next four to five days, the writing coach will review the author's responses and the first 5,000 words of the manuscript. Attendees will then meet with the coach in a free 30-minute video conference, where the coach will offer insights about their observations, improvements needed, and the writing project's potential.

If their goals align, One-on-One Coaching will commence after the initial coaching payment is made.

Time Frames for One-on-One Coaching
Time Frames for One-on-One Coaching

Different time frames are necessary for One-on-One Coaching based on project needs:

  • Month-to-Month Coaching - Available in the Start from Scratch package

  • 2 Months of Coaching - For midsize projects like novellas or partial coaching assistance in larger manuscripts

  • 4 Months of Coaching - Recommended for novels and books

Choose the one that fits your schedule, writing pace, and the needs of the manuscript. One-on-One Coaching is intended to save you time through knowledgeable writing and publishing assistance rather than learning from future mistakes. This will improve the likelihood that your project will be accepted for publication and well received by readers. Additionally, individualized coaching is designed to improve not just the project, but also your writing craft. As a result, this process cannot be accelerated.

One-on-One Coaching

Listed rates for One-on-One Coaching packages are based on the size of the document listed above and the time it will take to review, compose feedback, and assist the author one on one.

After the free initial 30-minute video conference and review of your first 5,000 words, an assessment will be made. Writers and coaches have to work well together with shared goals. If both parties agree, the service will be offered. When payment is made, coaching services will commence. In longer projects, an extended timetable may be recommended.

Please keep in mind that this service takes a large investment of time from both the author and writing coach. Coaching packages are non-refundable. However, in extreme situations, accommodations may be made. Contact Weston Kincade at weston@kincadefiction in such instances.

"But what if I want editing?" you might be thinking.
